About The Position

OVD Insurance offers paid internship opportunities for current students interested in careers in the insurance sector. The summer internship program provides participants with insights and experience within the industry, focusing on the Mid – Large Business Insurance sector, which includes sales and servicing. Producers in this sector expand their territory by attracting new clients and nurturing existing relationships, cultivating business connections, generating opportunities for advisory services, and serving as a solutions provider. Account Managers oversee the continuous management of commercial clients, retention, and ensure a robust partnership with Producers. Interns will gain a well-rounded perspective on Commercial Lines by engaging in both sales and service roles, laying a solid foundation of knowledge about coverage in different business sectors and providing insights into the service side of the industry. The program aims to augment academic knowledge with real-world application, featuring educational workshops, presentations from senior leaders, and collaboration with fellow professionals.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a higher education institution and entering junior or senior year of college.
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Insurance and/or Risk Management (preferred but not required).
  • Must be a current student through the duration of the intern program.
  • Ability to type quickly and accurately on a keyboard.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Able to work onsite for the duration of the internship.
  • Internship Date Availability: May 17, 2027 – August 6, 2027.
  • Some travel, including to different states, may be required at the company’s expense.
  • Possess Drive, Ownership, Accountability, and Passion.
  • Extremely strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to translate technical information for end users at all levels.
  • High energy work ethic with the ability to work independently while maintaining excellent customer relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Shadow and train in a "learning by doing" experience, including job shadowing, presentations, client project assignments, and prospecting.

  • Participate in agent sales meetings.
  • Learn and gather knowledge from producers in specific niche markets.

  • Understand the claims process and claims advocacy.
  • Assist with a variety of projects and tasks for strategy, marketing, sales, relationship management, customer service, and research projects for the small/medium business insurance line.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team on new ideas and projects to drive company growth.
