About The Position

The Service Manager directs, manages, recruits, plans, coaches, and supports a team of field technicians working on projects and maintenance. The role supports commercial HVAC cooling systems ranging from 3 to 100 tons, including packaged units, split systems, control systems, pumps, refrigeration equipment, VFDs, boilers, and built-up systems. The position is based in the Tucson area and supports southern Arizona. It is available to UA and SMART Union members, but union affiliation is not required.

Requirements

• At least five years of HVACR management experience.
• At least 10 years of technical experience in HVACR, Facilities Management, or a maintenance environment.
• Ability to plan, organize, and align customer needs with available technicians.
• Proficiency with Microsoft applications.

Responsibilities

• Oversee dispatching of all technicians, with dispatching performed by the Service Coordinator.
• Oversee scheduling of monthly preventive maintenance inspections, with scheduling performed by the Service Coordinator.
• Provide technical support to field technicians.
• Assist the Service Coordinator with ordering approved parts and materials.
• Perform site surveys for existing and prospective customers after a sales lead for new work has been established.
• Estimate and write repair-work proposals for existing customers.
• Conduct periodic site inspections to ensure quality workmanship.
• Perform periodic ride-alongs with technicians to ensure corporate procedures are followed.
• Inspect vehicles for cleanliness, order, and proper maintenance.
• Oversee inventory maintenance for the main warehouse, service vehicles, and job sites; inventory ordering is performed by the Service Coordinator.
• Recruit technicians and conduct reviews and performance evaluations.
• Promote a safe work environment and hold regular safety meetings with technicians.
• Visit customers and coordinate regular customer review meetings with key branch accounts.
• Work with the branch management team to develop the Branch Business Plan.
• Assist with developing new accounts and promoting service and maintenance growth.
• Attend weekly branch operations meetings.
