About The Position

Mr. C Refrigeration is hiring a Commercial HVAC/R Service Technician to perform service work on commercial and industrial refrigeration, cold storage, and HVAC equipment. The company is open to experienced technicians and developing technicians who have foundational HVAC/R knowledge, mechanical aptitude, and a strong desire to grow. Technicians whose experience is primarily preventive maintenance may be considered if they are committed to developing into well-rounded service technicians and taking on increasingly complex work. Responsibilities will expand in line with demonstrated skills and experience, with support from an experienced commercial HVAC/R team and ongoing technical training. The position serves customers throughout the assigned area, and applicants must currently live within approximately 25 miles of Columbus, Ohio. The role pays $55 per hour, based on experience. It is full-time and eligible for overtime, with commission opportunities, on-call pay, and weekly pay by direct deposit. The position includes 40 hours (one week) of PTO and paid holidays beginning on the first day of employment. Access to company-sponsored group insurance and benefit plans is provided, with benefits eligibility beginning on the first of the month following 30 days of service. This is a hands-on field position involving work indoors and outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions. Physical activities include standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting or moving up to 50 pounds, and working on ladders and at elevated heights.

Requirements

Must currently live within approximately 25 miles of Columbus, Ohio.
EPA Certification is required.
Foundational hands-on HVAC/R knowledge and mechanical aptitude.
Strong desire to develop diagnostic, troubleshooting, and repair skills.
Willingness to ask questions, accept coaching, and apply feedback.
Initiative, dependability, and ownership of work.
Ability to manage assigned tasks and work more independently as skills develop.
Professional communication and customer service skills.
Valid driver’s license.

Ability to perform the physical activities described, including lifting or moving up to 50 pounds and working at elevated heights.

Nice To Haves

Commercial HVAC/R service experience is preferred; candidates with less experience and strong growth potential will be considered.
Technical school HVAC/R training or equivalent field experience is preferred.
Three or more years of commercial HVAC/R service experience is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

Perform preventive maintenance and equipment inspections.
Troubleshoot and repair commercial HVAC and refrigeration equipment within demonstrated capabilities, with team support as needed.
Develop diagnostic skills for mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration-system issues.
Identify equipment problems and recommend necessary repairs.
Test systems after repairs to confirm proper operation.
Communicate findings and service needs clearly with customers and team members.
Complete service documentation accurately and on time.
Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment.
Travel to customer locations throughout the assigned service area.
Participate in ongoing training and apply what is learned in the field.
