About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Commercial General Liability Adjuster to manage complex liability claims involving public entities, transit operations, buses, and rail systems. This role requires strong experience handling bodily injury, property damage, and litigated claims from inception through resolution. The ideal candidate will possess excellent investigative, negotiation, and claim management skills, along with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Hybrid in San Jose, CA preferred.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of Commercial General Liability claims adjusting experience
  • Strong background handling public entity, transportation, transit, bus, or rail-related claims preferred
  • Experience managing bodily injury, property damage, and litigated claims
  • Knowledge of liability investigations, litigation management, and coverage analysis
  • Ability to analyze complex claim exposures and make sound claim decisions
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills
  • Proficiency with claims management systems and Microsoft Office

Nice To Haves

  • Public entity or municipal claims handling experience
  • Transit authority, rail, or bus fleet claims exposure
  • Experience working with defense counsel and complex litigation matters
  • Multi-state claims handling experience is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
  • California license preferred

Responsibilities

  • Investigate, evaluate, and adjust complex Commercial General Liability claims involving public entities, transit agencies, buses, and rail operations
  • Handle bodily injury, property damage, and litigated claims from initial assignment through closure
  • Review police reports, contracts, medical records, witness statements, incident reports, and coverage documentation
  • Coordinate with defense counsel, vendors, experts, and insureds throughout the life of the claim
  • Establish appropriate reserves and maintain accurate claim documentation
  • Conduct liability and damages assessments and develop resolution strategies
  • Negotiate settlements within authority and provide recommendations on high-exposure files
  • Manage claims in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company/client guidelines
  • Participate in mediations, settlement conferences, and litigation strategy discussions
  • Maintain consistent communication with clients, insureds, attorneys, and internal stakeholders
