About The Position

This is a remote, work from home position for a Commercial Liability Adjuster within the Casualty Claims Division. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling complex liability claims, including coverage issues and severe injury claims. The candidate must be able to work anywhere within Erie's Footprint and will be required to obtain specific adjuster licenses (KY, NC, WV) within a permitted timeframe, with potential for other licenses as business needs arise. The role also involves providing support for property claims during periods of high volume and may require travel for training.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Five years casualty claims adjusting experience or equivalent experience in the medical or legal field required.
  • Broad knowledge and expertise in the areas of liability coverages, laws and injuries required.
  • Position requires incumbents to provide support for property claims during periods of heavy volume.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to move over 50 lbs using lifting aide equipment.
  • Occasional (<20%) Climbing/accessing heights.
  • Occasional (<20%) Lifting/Moving 0-20 lbs.
  • Occasional (<20%) Lifting/Moving 20-50 lbs.
  • Occasional (<20%) Manual Keying/Data Entry/inputting information/computer use.
  • Frequent (50-80%) Pushing/Pulling/moving objects, equipment with wheels.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts investigations, evaluate and make recommendations regarding coverage and liability.
  • Handles claims involving complex liability, damages or coverages.
  • Negotiates with all parties, or their representatives, within designated authority.
  • Documents the file and submits reports.
  • Identifies subrogation opportunities and initiates appropriate action.
  • Completes required training.
  • Provides support for property claims during periods of heavy volume.
  • Trains and mentors.
