About The Position

Waste Connections of Houston is hiring a safety-conscious CDL Route Driver in Houston, Texas. The driver safely operates a commercial CDL truck to deliver dumpster containers to customers in residential, construction, and commercial environments. The role involves choosing suitable drop-off locations, operating hydraulic controls to load and unload dumpsters, securing and covering loads, serving customers on assigned routes, and completing vehicle inspections. Work takes place year-round in varied weather and environments, including around heavy diesel equipment and potentially dirty conditions. The job requires strenuous physical activity, including consistent walking and lifting, pushing, or pulling objects over 75 pounds.

Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Have a satisfactory driving record.
Hold a Class A or Class B CDL.
Be able to work Monday through any day of the week, with starts as early as midnight.
Be able to perform strenuous physical work, including consistent walking and lifting, pushing, or pulling objects over 75 pounds.
Follow basic safety precautions around moving mechanical parts and other physical risks.

Responsibilities

Safely drive a commercial CDL truck in residential, construction, commercial, and other environments.
Determine a convenient dumpster drop-off location that avoids property damage.
Operate hydraulic hand controls to lift and load dumpsters onto or off the truck.
Secure and appropriately cover dumpster loads, accounting for weight shifts before departing.
Read route sheets and service each customer listed or assigned by the dispatcher.
Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
Interact courteously with customers.
Perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
