About The Position

WIN Waste Innovations is seeking a Commercial Driver to operate heavy-duty trucks equipped with front- or rear-end load lift attachments. The driver picks up containers filled with waste or recyclable material and transports them to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities when the truck reaches legal load capacity. Containers may weigh more than 1,000 pounds and may need to be maneuvered to a pickup area. The role involves navigating high-traffic and congested roadways, driveways, alleyways, and lots, and requires skilled backing maneuvers. The driver is expected to operate safely and in compliance with company rules, OSHA and DOT requirements, and applicable laws. The position also involves vehicle inspections and documentation, communication with Route Management or Dispatch about service issues and hazards, route efficiency, customer requests, containers, and incidents, and completing route and end-of-day procedures. The normal work setting is outdoors and/or in a video- and GPS-monitored vehicle. The workday may involve dirt, odors, noise, and extreme weather. The role requires frequent physical effort handling objects over 50 pounds, along with pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Requirements

At least one year of experience within the last seven years operating a vehicle requiring a CDL, or equivalent military driving experience.
Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or B with an air brake endorsement.
At least 21 years of age.
Acceptable driving record.
Legally eligible to work in the United States.
Successfully complete a pre-employment DOT drug screen, physical, and background check, including previous employment, criminal history, and motor vehicle record reviews.
Able to use motor coordination involving arm, hand, finger, and leg dexterity.
Able to exert frequent physical effort handling objects weighing more than 50 pounds and to push, pull, bend, twist, and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

Operate the vehicle in accordance with WIN Waste's Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA and DOT requirements, and applicable local, state, and federal laws.
Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of the assigned vehicle and document them using the standard Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR).
Immediately report unsafe situations and service-related issues to the Route Manager or Dispatch.
Attend and participate in scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings as required by WIN Waste or the Route Manager.
Work with the Route Manager to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices.
Notify the Route Manager of incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
Notify the Route Manager or Dispatch about service interruptions, blocked containers, closed lots, streets or alleyways, and potential safety hazards.
Communicate customer requests to Dispatch or the Route Manager.
Identify and report containers that need repair or replacement.
Reconcile the number of containers on the route with the service level listed on the service list.
Completely empty containers and leave customer locations clean and free of debris.
Complete and submit customer tickets when excessive yardage must be removed.
Position and return containers on customer property with lids replaced, enclosure doors closed and secured, and containers clear of driveway entrances and traffic.
Follow route assignments and complete end-of-day documentation and checkout.
Perform scheduled duties and assist other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.
Maintain a positive work environment through appropriate interactions and communication with customers, clients, vendors, coworkers, and management.
