Commercial Construction Project Manager
About The Position
The Commercial Construction Project Manager oversees commercial construction projects from initial planning through successful completion. The role coordinates financial performance, scheduling, subcontractor management, contract administration, and client communication. The Project Manager works collaboratively with field Superintendents and project stakeholders, and supports projects throughout Northern Virginia. The employer is a long-established, family-owned commercial general contractor serving Northern Virginia and the surrounding region, with more than 100 years in business and projects across healthcare, education, government, industrial, hospitality, religious, and institutional sectors.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of commercial construction experience, including project management responsibilities.
- Experience working for a commercial general contractor.
- Experience managing project budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and contracts.
- Strong understanding of commercial construction processes and building systems.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to support projects throughout Northern Virginia.
Nice To Haves
- Ground-up commercial construction experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience with Procore or similar construction management software is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Manage commercial construction projects from start to finish.
- Oversee project budgets, forecasting, schedules, and cost controls.
- Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and project resources.
- Manage contracts, change orders, RFIs, submittals, and procurement.
- Work closely with Superintendents to maintain project progress and resolve issues.
- Serve as a primary contact for owners, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure projects are delivered according to established quality, schedule, and financial objectives.
- Oversee project closeout, documentation, and turnover.
