About The Position
Rockland Trust is seeking motivated rising juniors and seniors for its Commercial Banking Summer Internship Program. Interns gain practical exposure to commercial banking by working with Relationship Managers and other banking professionals on real projects involving lending, client relationship management, financial analysis, and business development. The role offers mentorship, opportunities to network, and experience applying classroom knowledge to business situations. Interns also take part in a collaborative summer project with interns from across the organization. Teams address a real business challenge, develop recommendations, and present their ideas to organizational leadership. The program is intended to build analytical, communication, teamwork, leadership, and presentation skills while helping interns explore career opportunities in banking and financial services.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled as a rising junior or senior at an accredited college or university, pursuing a degree in finance, economics, business, or a related field.
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to interpret financial data and develop meaningful insights.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interact professionally with clients, colleagues, and business partners.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interest in commercial banking, financial services, and business operations.

Responsibilities
- Assist Relationship Managers with managing client portfolios, preparing reports, and conducting financial analysis.
- Research industry trends, competitive activity, and client markets.
- Support the loan application process, including documentation, underwriting support, and client onboarding.
- Maintain accurate client records and assist with reporting for internal meetings and executive presentations.
- Participate in data analysis projects that support business decisions.
- Attend team meetings and collaborate across departments on initiatives.
- Conduct targeted research projects supporting departmental objectives.
- Participate in customer outreach to understand client needs and identify business opportunities.
- Work with banking professionals to gain practical exposure to relationship management and commercial lending.
- Collaborate with fellow interns on a business challenge, develop recommendations, and present them to organizational leadership.
