About The Position

Rockland Trust is seeking motivated rising juniors and seniors for its Commercial Banking Summer Internship Program. Interns gain practical, hands-on experience in commercial banking by working with Relationship Managers and other banking professionals. The role provides exposure to lending, client relationship management, financial analysis, business development, commercial banking operations, and strategy. Interns contribute to real projects, collaborate across departments, participate in customer outreach, and work on a collaborative summer project that culminates in recommendations presented to organizational leadership. The program also offers mentorship, networking opportunities, and experience applying classroom knowledge to business situations.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university as a rising junior or senior, pursuing a degree in finance, economics, business, or a related field.
• Excellent analytical skills and ability to interpret financial data and develop meaningful insights.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to interact professionally with clients, colleagues, and business partners.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong interest in commercial banking, financial services, and business operations.

Responsibilities

• Assist Relationship Managers with client portfolios, reports, and financial analysis.
• Research industry trends, competitive activity, and client markets.
• Support loan applications, including documentation, underwriting support, and client onboarding.
• Maintain accurate client records and assist with reporting for internal meetings and executive presentations.
• Participate in data analysis projects to support business decisions.
• Attend team meetings and collaborate across departments on initiatives.
• Conduct targeted research projects supporting departmental objectives.
• Participate in customer outreach to understand client needs and identify business opportunities.
• Work with banking professionals to gain exposure to relationship management and commercial lending.
• Collaborate with fellow interns on a business challenge, develop recommendations, and present them to organizational leadership.
