About The Position

This role serves as the primary day-to-day contact for client requests within a book of business, which includes a mix of Mid-Market and Large/Complex accounts. The Commercial Account Manager, with direction from the Account Executive, prepares renewal materials, facilitates meetings, handles client interactions, negotiations, technical analysis, and program design with minimal oversight. The role also supports new business acquisition and client onboarding, proactively anticipating client problems and providing solutions. Additionally, the Commercial Account Manager is responsible for creating marketing submissions, managing carrier negotiations, reviewing quotes for accuracy, generating proposals, processing policies, and performing various administrative tasks such as premium allocations, certificate of insurance management, basic contract reviews, and policy endorsements. As needed, this position may also serve as a team lead, mentor, or manager for other Account Managers, ensuring quality control and contributing to department strategies.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of applicable insurance experience.
  • Ability to work within AMS and maintain data completeness standards.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and lead special project assignments.
  • Ability to build underwriter and client relationships.
  • Ability to delegate to appropriate parties when necessary.
  • Experience with MS Office products (specifically PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, and Excel).
  • Some travel required (up to 30% depending on book of business & industry).
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal.

Nice To Haves

  • Specialty experience preferred.
  • Holds or is pursuing formal specialty designation (ARM, CPCU, Industry specific designation) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the day-to-day contact for all client requests within a book of business.
  • Prepare renewal materials, including Premium & Loss summary, exposures, coverage comparison, and premium & rate information.
  • Facilitate meetings, client interactions, negotiations, technical analysis, and program design.
  • Support new business acquisition and client onboarding.
  • Anticipate client problems and provide proactive solutions.
  • Create marketing submissions and manage ongoing negotiations with carriers.
  • Receive quotes, review for accuracy and desired coverages, terms, and pricing.
  • Generate and populate proposals.
  • Process policies, send instructions to the applicable Center of Excellence (COE), and keep COE informed of changes.
  • Perform premium allocations, surplus lines template preparation, Certificate of Insurance request template preparation & master approval, and on-demand certificates.
  • Conduct basic contract reviews and process policy endorsements.
  • Resolve coverage and premium discrepancy issues.
  • Conduct audits on expired and/or non-renewed policies.
  • Serve as a team lead, mentor, and/or manager for other Account Managers as needed.
  • Ensure quality control standards of the team are maintained.
  • Work with the Commercial Lines Leader regarding department strategies, needs, and performance.
