About The Position

This is a stipend position at Bellingham Public School District in Bellingham, Massachusetts. The Color Guard Assistant Advisor will assist with directing and supervising various activities including practice sessions, games, performances, parades, pep rallies, competitions, and meetings. The role directly reports to the building principal.

Requirements

• Experienced with performing on equipment such as baton, flag, hand flags, dance, etc.
• Ability to teach the technical skills for various guard equipment.
• Ability to choreograph moves for marching field show and parade events.
• Ability to teach marching skills to majorettes.
• Organized to keep track of inventory such as drill charts, uniforms and equipment.
• Dedication to the service of youth.
• Demonstrated ability to relate favorably with students.

Nice To Haves

• Preferably a member of the High School teaching staff.
• Experience in directing activities for majorettes.
• Knowledge of majorette routines and programs.

Responsibilities

• Assist with directing and supervising practice sessions, games, performances, parades, pep rallies, competitions, and meetings.
• Teach technical skills for various guard equipment as required by the field show and needs of the ensemble.
• Choreograph moves for marching field show and parade events in collaboration with the color guard coach.
• Teach marching skills to majorettes consistent with the band’s system of marching and vocabulary.
• Assist the band director and color guard coach with marching lessons for the entire ensemble.
• Maintain an organized system for tracking inventory, including drill charts, uniforms, and equipment.
• Adhere to regular practice hours coordinated with the band’s rehearsal times.
• Supervise and assist guard students at all performances, including football games, parades, and ceremonies.
• Adhere to the adopted policies of the Bellingham School Committee.
