The role of the BHS Operator is to constantly monitor the status of the maintained systems and alert Baggage Jam Runners/Manual Encode Operators, Technicians and the Contract Manager when situations occur that need their attention. The BHS Control Room Operator shall have a good understanding of the physical system layout and associated controls functionality in order to efficiently manage the baggage flow during the daily operation through the BHS and direct the response staff to the incidents. The BHS Control Room Operator shall fully understand all the functions of the BHS Control Systems, the Aviation approved System Contingency Plan, and how to use these functions to monitor, control/manage the operational control functions of the BHS for dispatching appropriate Mechanics/Technicians to troubleshoot and address system faults. The BHS Control Room Operator may also support the Management team in preparing reports and trending analysis if this does not interfere with the primary duty of system monitoring. 24/7 operations; night and weekend shift work required. This position may be a combination of dedicated control room shift coverage and “floater” shift coverage depending on staffing and schedule requirements as communicated from the Supervisor or Operations Manager. Communication with other control room operators, BHS Supervisor, ASG Operations Manager, and General Manager as well as PHL, Lead O&M Firm, PhiliTech, and Airline staff is critical to success in this role.
