About The Position

M&J Auto Body Services, a family-owned business in Van Nuys, California, is seeking an experienced Collision Repair Estimator. The role involves assessing vehicle damage, preparing repair estimates, managing parts-related details, coordinating with insurance companies, and working with customers and technicians to support high-quality collision repairs. The business offers state-of-the-art facilities and technology. This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, for 40 hours per week. The stated annual salary range is $65,000–$90,000, with commission incentives expected to range from $3,000 to $4,000 per month. The posting also mentions a rate of $18–$22 per hour.

Requirements

At least 2 years of experience as an Auto Body Estimator, Collision Estimator, or in a similar body shop role.
Strong knowledge of automotive repair processes, including damage assessment, parts identification, and cost calculation.
Familiarity with estimating software such as CCC One or Mitchell and with industry standards.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to multitask and manage several jobs at once.
Attention to detail, quick-learning ability, and a positive, can-do attitude.
High school diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Experience working with direct repair programs (DRP).
I-CAR or ASE certification.
Technical training.

Responsibilities

Inspect damaged vehicles to assess bodywork, interior, and mechanical damage and determine repair or replacement costs.
Prepare detailed estimates for labor, parts, and materials, coordinating with insurance companies.
Explain estimates to customers, answer questions, and support a positive repair experience.
Collaborate with technicians to confirm repair feasibility and adjust estimates as needed.
