About The Position

A collision estimator (also called an auto body estimator) is a professional who assesses vehicle damage after accidents and provides accurate repair cost estimates for customers and insurance companies. They act as a liaison between customers, repair shops, and insurers, ensuring repairs are completed efficiently, safely, and within budget.

Requirements

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in collision repair software and estimating tools.
Knowledge of automotive repair processes, parts pricing, and insurance procedures.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Associate’s degree in auto body repair or related field.
I-CAR certification.

Responsibilities

Inspect vehicles to evaluate structural, body, mechanical, electrical, and interior damage.
Use specialized software (e.g., CCC One, Audatex, Mitchell) and manual calculations to determine labor, parts, and material costs.
Document inspection findings, repair plans, and cost breakdowns for insurance claims and internal records.
Work with adjusters to submit estimates, negotiate approvals, and ensure compliance with insurance guidelines.
Explain repair options, costs, timelines, and procedures; address customer concerns and preferences.
Coordinate with technicians and parts departments to schedule repairs and ensure component availability.
Follow up on repairs to verify work meets safety and quality standards before returning the vehicle.
Inspect damaged vehicles to determine necessary repairs.
Estimate repair costs using industry standards and software.
Prepare and submit detailed damage reports to insurers.
Communicate repair status and updates to customers.
Negotiate repair costs with repair shops.
Maintain accurate records of estimates, repairs, and claims.
Stay updated on vehicle design, repair techniques, and industry regulations.
