About The Position

Exceptions are allowed. ‌ The Department of Engineering at Abilene Christian University seeks an energetic, talented engineer for a non-tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor position to assist in the development and growth of the electrical or mechanical engineering degree program at ACU. This position offers excellent opportunities to contribute to and shape the program through curricular development, classroom teaching, student mentorship, and possible administrative duties.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in electrical, mechanical engineering or related field (e.g. aerospace, nuclear, petroleum, materials, chemical)
  • Past record of effective communication, teamwork, and planning skills

Nice To Haves

  • Classroom teaching experience at the University level
  • 10+ years of engineering experience
  • Coursework or formal training in engineering education pedagogy
  • Experience in course and curriculum development

Responsibilities

  • Effectively teach discipline specific engineering courses as well as a variety of lower-level general engineering courses
  • Partner in continuously improving teaching, courses, and labs to support curricular development and ABET accreditation
  • Develop, encourage, and participate in engineering experiential learning activities
  • Develop instructional methods that reflect best practices in engineering pedagogy
  • Mentor engineering students in academic progress, career planning, and capstone projects
  • Serve as advisor for student professional groups
