College Intern - Construction

About The Position

RK&K is hiring a College Intern to join its Construction Management and Construction Inspection Division. The internship provides on-the-job training, mentorship, and exposure to consulting construction management and inspection, including materials testing, construction contract management, client interface, project challenges, and discipline-related technology. The paid intern supports construction management and inspection activities for roadway and bridge projects, materials tracking and testing, contract management, project documentation, and field engineering. The role also involves problem-solving and using standard survey and field engineering equipment.

Requirements

Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering & Management, Environmental Science, or a related area.
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including Word and Excel.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

Assist with inspection and monitoring of roadway and bridge structures to ensure compliance with contract documents and safety regulations.
Assist with materials tracking and testing to ensure compliance with requirements.
Provide contract management support for construction projects.
Assist with quantity calculations, as-built sketches, constructability reviews, project control and pre-operation meetings, and issue tracking.
Engage in problem-solving and provide technical evaluations and sound solutions.
Review lines, grades, dimensions, and elevations using standard survey and field engineering equipment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
