Under general supervision of the Division Manager, or designee, this position provides the opportunity to perform a full range of duties related to the functions of the Department. You will have the opportunity to work on real projects that align with your interests and career aspirations. Your role in the group is an important one, your work is taken seriously, and you are counted on as a contributing member of a team. This internship will culminate in the implementation, as practical, and presentation of a final project that will contribute to both the City of McKinney and your academic and professional development.

Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program at an accredited college.
  • The Internship program is flexible to accommodate varying college internship requirements.

  • Ability to work with little supervision.
  • Ability to operate various types of office equipment and computer programs, such as word processing, presentation, spreadsheet, and database programs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop hands-on experience to day-to-day HR operations and front-desk customer service support
  • Participate in wellness program and events
  • Assist with benefits orientation sessions
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to internal Hiring Guide and other HR-materials/handouts.
  • Assists with researching local, state, and national programs, policies, etc. to ensure our department is at or above standard.
  • Complies with all written City policies and procedures.
  • Adheres to assigned work schedule as outlined in City and department attendance policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed.
