About The Position

RK&K is hiring a Transportation Design Intern to join its Highways team in the Wilmington, Delaware office. The intern will receive on-the-job training and collaborate with transportation engineering professionals. The position offers experience with MicroStation and/or OpenRoads and insight into developing designs for linear transportation projects, including new roadways, roadway extensions, pedestrian and bicycle facilities, traffic calming, and intersection safety improvements. Work may include both office and field tasks as needed, on projects throughout the mid-Atlantic region.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering.
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Self-motivated with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

• Participation in professional societies such as ASCE or ASHE.
• Applicable prior intern or co-op experience.
• Basic knowledge of MicroStation.

Responsibilities

• Collect field data.
• Assist with roadway, bicycle, and pedestrian facility design.
• Assist with maintenance-of-traffic and construction work-zone work.
• Contribute to corridor planning and cost estimating.
• Collaborate with team members to develop solutions to complex challenges.
• Complete office and field tasks as needed.
