About The Position

RK&K is hiring a Transportation Design Intern for its Highways team in the Wilmington, Delaware office. The intern will receive on-the-job training and collaborate with transportation engineering professionals. The role offers experience with MicroStation and/or OpenRoads software and exposure to developing designs for linear transportation projects, including new roadways, roadway extensions, pedestrian and bicycle facilities, traffic calming, and intersection safety improvements. Work may involve design challenges and tasks both in the office and in the field as needed.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering.
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Self-motivated with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

• Participation in professional societies such as ASCE or ASHE.
• Applicable prior internship or co-op experience.
• Basic knowledge of MicroStation.

Responsibilities

• Work on transportation projects throughout the mid-Atlantic region.
• Collect field data.
• Contribute to the design of roadway, bicycle, and pedestrian facilities.
• Work on maintenance of traffic and construction work zones.
• Contribute to corridor planning and cost estimating.
• Collaborate with team members to develop creative solutions to complex challenges.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
