College Intern, Bureau of Watershed Management and Modeling
About The Position
This is a paid internship program that supports the Hydrodynamic Modeling Group’s database development and maintenance efforts. Intern will assist with updating and improving the hydrodynamic database structure, including modifying and executing data processing scripts, organizing datasets by basin, and ensuring data accuracy and accessibility. Responsibilities include updating script paths to align with the current Hydrodynamic Data Archive directory structure, running, and revising R and Python scripts to update datasets and maintain functionality, and organizing data and scripts into appropriate basin-specific directories. The Intern will also support GIS-related tasks, such as updating ArcMap project files and shapefiles for compatibility with ArcGIS Pro and resolving data source issues. This position provides hands-on experience in hydrodynamic data management, database organization, programming (R and Python), and GIS applications.
Requirements
- College or university student currently enrolled in a degree-seeking program and either attending classes or participating in a work experience program sanctioned by the individual school and at least a junior level (senior level preferred) studying in hydrology, oceanography, environmental, coastal, civil engineering or a related field.
- All students must maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher.
