About The Position

The mission of the New York City Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in New York City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law, preserve peace, protect the people, reduce fear, and maintain order. The New York City Police Department strives to foster a safe and fair city through the strategic deployment of resources, focusing on both crime prevention and addressing quality-of-life concerns while building lasting community relationships. The NYPD Patrol Borough Manhattan South Command oversees police operations for the lower half of Manhattan, managing multiple neighborhood precincts from 59th Street downwards. This position encompasses duties, including but not limited to, general office assignments such as assisting in data entry, word processing, and filing, customer service in person and answering phones. Duties may include organizing records and files and working on special projects at the request of the supervisor. Flexible schedules are available.

Requirements

  • Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school
  • Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school

Nice To Haves

  • Specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or closely related field, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study (for Assignment Level II)
  • Specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or other area relevant to the information technology project(s) assigned, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study (for Assignment Level III)
