About The Position

First Commerce Credit Union is seeking an experienced and results-driven Collections Manager to lead their Collections team. This role is responsible for strengthening the financial well-being of members while supporting the credit union's growth. The Collections Manager will oversee the strategy, operations, and performance of the Collections Department, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and FCCU standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible collections or default management experience.
  • At least 3 years of leadership experience managing teams and driving performance.
  • Experience with secured and unsecured consumer lending collections; real estate and commercial loan collections experience is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of collections regulations, bankruptcy processes, loss mitigation strategies, and recovery practices.
  • Proven ability to analyze financial and operational data, identify trends, and implement effective solutions.
  • Exceptional leadership, coaching, and employee development skills.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a high-performing collections team focused on delivering exceptional member service while reducing delinquency and losses.
  • Direct all collection operations, including account extensions, modifications, repossessions, foreclosures, bankruptcies, loss mitigation, and recovery efforts.
  • Develop and execute collection strategies that drive portfolio performance while preserving valuable member relationships.
  • Analyze department performance, delinquency trends, and loss metrics to identify opportunities and improve results.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, NCUA guidelines, bankruptcy laws, and FCCU policies.
  • Partner with Lending, Finance, Member Service, and executive leadership to achieve organizational goals.
  • Manage third-party collection agencies, legal partners, and service providers to maximize effectiveness and recovery outcomes.
  • Resolve complex member situations and operational challenges with professionalism and sound judgment.
  • Prepare and present performance reports, recommendations, and strategic initiatives to senior leadership.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and service excellence.
