About The Position
The Coder II assigns and sequences diagnostic and procedural codes to inpatient and outpatient medical records for billing, reimbursement, and data retrieval, following established coding guidelines. The role reviews documentation and accurately abstracts clinical data to meet regulatory and compliance requirements.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent work experience.
- One to three years of prior coding experience.
- Knowledge of MS-DRG, APR-DRG, ICD-10-CM/PCS, and CPT.
- Knowledge of computerized encoder programs.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) credential required.
Nice To Haves
- College degree preferred, with coursework in Medical Terminology and Anatomy & Physiology, and computer experience.
