About The Position

Works under the supervision of the Director of Laboratory Services, Assistant Director, and/or Supervising Clinical Laboratory Scientists. Performs venipunctures on adults and pediatric patients and micro collections on infants. Participates in data entry and specimen processing, and communicates with clients to help resolve specimen concerns as required. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalency preferred.
• Proficiency in phlebotomy techniques and medical/laboratory terminology.
• Ability to operate a computer input terminal.
• Ability to perform phlebotomy techniques, including special procedures such as blood cultures, finger sticks, and heel sticks.
• Fluent English communication skills.
• Typing and word processing skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Current California CPT (Certified Phlebotomy Technician) certificate.
• BLS certification.

Nice To Haves

• Two years of acute care hospital laboratory experience.
• One to two years of experience assisting in performing laboratory assays.
