About The Position

Performs standardized, advanced, and specialized tests appropriate to the assigned laboratory section. Obtains specimens when necessary, prepares specimens, and determines whether they are suitable for requested tests. Prepares reagents; performs tests; determines and calculates results; reviews results for accuracy; and maintains proper records. Discusses methods and general procedures, investigates alternative procedures when appropriate, and reviews results with the supervisor. May assume supervisory capabilities when the immediate supervisor is absent. Evaluates new test methods and instrumentation.

Requirements

• Excellent customer service skills.
• Current California MTA CLS license. A 60-day grace period is granted for renewals while the Department processes them; practice is permitted through the end of that grace period.
• A minimum of an MTE license is required when working in the ICH Clinical Laboratory Scientist – Microbiology department.
