About The Position
Coatings R&D intern will work with a senior chemist to support development of new chemistries/products for use as a coating ingredient to enhance different performance attributes.
Requirements
- Competent in conducting experiments in a chemical lab setup and using basic analytical instruments.
- Ability to learn and execute quickly, collaboration and teamwork, problem solving and analytical mindset.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Must be actively enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at the time of application and for at least one semester following the conclusion of the internship.
- Expected to be available 40 hours a week for a period of 10-12 weeks between the months of May and August.
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience or knowledge of Coating technologies preferred but not a requirement.
Responsibilities
- Evaluation and design of new chemistries for use as coating additives or resins.
- Coating formulation and testing to ensure performance properties meet requirements for target applications.
- Fundamental studies to understand structure-property relationship using different analytical techniques.
- Documentation of all studies and presentation to technology team and leaders.
