About The Position

The selected entry level Coatings and Preservation Assistant candidate will primarily support Platform Modernization (PM) operations at the Woodlake Fabrication Shop in Chesapeake, VA. This role may involve periodic local travel to shipyards and military bases to assist PM Trade Teams in fleet modernization. Limited out-of-town travel, up to 25%, may be required based on contract needs and trade skill requirements. Occasional weekend or evening work may be necessary to meet high-volume or short-notice deadlines. This role is contingent upon being awarded the contract. The selected candidate will support the team, under direction, assisting with the performance of duties primarily related to material coatings and preservation. They will perform specific or general duties of lesser skill, such as supplying or holding materials and tools; cleaning working area, machine, and equipment; and performing diverse tasks as directed. The role involves performing semi-skilled and unskilled laboring duties supporting the fabrication, installation, maintenance, and repair of a wide array of systems and equipment. The candidate will apply job skills and company policies to complete a wide range of tasks that vary based on job, contract, customer requirements, specifications, etc.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a valid drivers license and must provide own hand tools.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain medical clearance to wear a half-face respirator.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Shipboard experience.
  • Previous work related to technical trades.
  • Candidates who hold a current or active DoD confidential clearance or higher.
  • Candidate with related technical training, degrees, and/or certifications.
