About The Position

The Executive Assistant for the Land Preservation department is responsible for assisting with the completion of real estate transactions. Updates internal District real estate records and submits documentation to Lake County for tax exempt status. Conducts research on real estate issues that may include a variety of factors related to physical and legal status of a property. Assists with the implementation of land transactions including working with realtors, sellers, attorneys and other District staff. Coordinates requests for appraisals, title commitments, surveys, and environmental studies, and requests real estate contracts from District counsel. This position also coordinates monthly Planning Committee meetings, working in conjunction with the Executive Director, Director of Land Preservation, and Manager of Board Operations, which involves assembling agendas; drafting recommendations, resolutions, ordinances and policy direction; communicating with other departments, and attending the meetings.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in business, finance, real estate, management, or related field.
  • Two years’ experience in administrative services or office management.
  • Working knowledge of real estate and its terminology.
  • Understanding of the local governmental structure in Lake County including the municipal and county levels of government and the relationship between various governmental entities.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, and OnBase document management software.
  • Working knowledge of state and local laws governing administrative processes within municipal government, including document retention policies.
  • Valid driver’s license.
