About The Position

The Riverside Transit Agency (RTA) is seeking to fill Full Time Coach Operator positions. Coach Operators are responsible for operating the Agency's 40' transit bus fleet, providing safe, dependable, and courteous public transportation. This role may involve assignments at either the Riverside or Hemet locations. Applicants must be available to work seven days a week, including holidays and all shifts.

Requirements

  • Current RTA Community Bus Operator.
  • Must have successfully completed the 120-day probationary period.
  • If not fully licensed, must obtain a Class B Permit/License with endorsements.
  • Candidates must provide proof of a Class B Permit with the passenger and airbrake endorsements; or a current Class A or B License with the proper endorsements prior to appointment.
  • All Coach Operators are required to maintain a valid Class B Driver's License, with the proper endorsements and current medical certificate for continued employment.
  • Must pass job-related skills test(s), which may include written, oral, and practical tests.
  • Past year performance record review: Discipline other than attendance & accidents - only 1 written warning in last year.
  • Must have no more than 1 Late Arrival within the last 12 months.
  • Must have no more than 1 Attendance Point in the last year.
  • Preventable Accidents - only 1 written warning within the last year.
  • Performance Appraisal ratings must be at or above "Meets Standards."
  • Applications who request to transfer to a different department will be eligible to do so after 1 year of service.
  • Provide documentation to establish both work authorization and identity.

Responsibilities

  • Operate Agency transit and support vehicles in both revenue and non-revenue service.
  • Maintain an established schedule along a designated route.
  • Be available to operate Agency buses on pre-assigned shifts.
  • Be responsible for the safety of passengers.
  • Collect proper fares according to Agency tariffs.
  • Give transit information.
  • Collect patronage and revenue data as assigned.
  • Prepare report forms.
  • Report equipment defects or failures.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned.
