About The Position

This co-op position supports preclinical pharmacokinetic (PK) analysis of novel multispecific antibody therapeutics. The student will develop customized, fit-for-purpose PK assays aligned with project pipeline needs, perform routine PK bioanalysis of biological samples with a high degree of reliability, efficiency and accuracy using MSD and/or ELISA assays, and facilitate in vivo organ and blood processing for downstream analysis. The role also involves conducting cytokine analysis of biological samples using MSD and/or ELISA assays, helping to maintain complex sample inventories, and generating high quality methods and study protocols for internal programs. The student will adhere to Zymeworks standard procedures for generating, documenting and archiving data, maintain an accurate lab notebook, plan studies, perform experiments, interpret and analyze data, and prepare and communicate results. All activities will be conducted in accordance with scientific standards, OS&H regulations and established Zymeworks’ policies and practices. The role contributes to a safe and highly efficient laboratory environment through ordering of consumables, preparation of solutions, stocking of consumables, and maintaining a clean working environment.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a BSc program in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Immunology or a related discipline.
  • Must be available for a co-op term of at least 8-months.
  • Must be able to work onsite in Vancouver, BC, without relocation assistance.
  • Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively as a member of a cross-functional team.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a high paced, fast changing environment.
  • Results-oriented.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to work effectively in a team setting.
  • Good oral, presentation, scientific/technical writing and data analysis skills.
  • Good computer skills particularly with Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Basic working knowledge of antibody structure and function.

Nice To Haves

  • Successful completion of at least one prior relevant co-op term is preferred.
  • Experience involving ELISA and other plate based molecular biology techniques would be an asset.
  • GraphPad Prism considered an asset.
