Requirements

Must be able to communicate in English.
Ability to use a computer.
Requires physical ability and stamina to perform the essential functions of the position, including the ability to walk, stand, lift, carry up to 50 pounds, push, kneel, bend, stoop, reach over and under waist level, twist for extended periods of time on cement or other hard surfaces.
Demonstrates the verbal and written communication skills necessary to complete forms and take messages in a legible, accurate manner.

Responsibilities

Set-up and operate CNC Lathe Machines to meet production and quality requirements.
Operate assigned machinery to fabricate parts to the required specifications by reading work orders and specification sheets, powering up and down the machine, loading and unloading parts, ensuring proper tooling, creating and sizing jaws, changing chucking devices, recognizing insert and tool geometry, and making offset adjustments for size.
Ensure all parts are to the required specifications by reading blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, and specifications, verifying conformance of finished work piece specifications, complying with all work instructions, following and maintaining ISO and Schafer procedures, and completing Schafer’s quality certification requirements for assigned area.
Ensure the operational effectiveness of all assigned equipment by adjusting machine controls or control media as required and conferring with engineers, production personnel, and programmers to resolve machining problems.
Support the Schafer Business Process by maintaining and continuously improving productivity of assigned machines, measuring, marking, and scribing dimensions and reference points, looking at tool life and new tooling to cut costs, reducing downtime of machines setups, preparing computer setups by preparing tooling, fixtures, steel, gages, etc., and maintaining the 6S program in the assigned area.
