About The Position

As a CNC Swiss Lathe Machinist, you will produce industrial and medical parts by programming, setting up, and operating a CNC Swiss Lathe. You will maintain quality and safety standards, keep records, and maintain equipment supplies. This role involves planning machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, and other technical documents. You will interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances, program CNC machines and lathes, and set tool registers, offsets, and compensations. The position requires calculating requirements, loading machines, verifying settings, and maintaining specifications through observation of machining processes. You will also plan stock inventory, operate cleaning equipment, run multiple machines simultaneously, and use state-of-the-art inspection equipment. Monitoring product quality, adhering to dimensional compliance, and recording daily production data are key aspects of this role. You will contribute to continuous improvement and update job knowledge through educational opportunities and technical publications.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to high school education or related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior CNC Swiss Lathe experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters.
  • Interprets geometric dimensions and tolerances.
  • Programs CNC machines and lathes by entering instructions, including zeros and reference points.
  • Sets tool registers, offsets, compensations, and conditional switches.
  • Calculates requirements including basic math and adjusting three and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers.
  • Loads machine by lifting stock into position.
  • Verifies setting by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces, adhering to standards.
  • Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing.
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
  • Plans stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available.
  • Operate cleaning equipment (vapor degreaser, etc.).
  • Operate multiple machines at one time.
  • Operate state-of-the-art inspection equipment.
  • Monitor product quality and adhere to dimensional compliance.
  • Record daily production data.
  • Contribute toward continuous improvement.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading technical publications.
