About The Position

The CNC Set Up Operator is responsible for operating CNC machines, performing setups across multiple machines and disciplines, and ensuring parts meet customer specifications. This role involves troubleshooting machine errors, performing quality inspections, and providing general machine shop support. The position also requires adherence to safety protocols, company initiatives like 5S and Continuous Improvement, and effective communication with team members and supervisors. Cross-training on various machines and equipment is expected.

Requirements

• 3+ years machine operation required
• 3+ years machine setup preferred
• Basic computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Ability to recognize safety concerns
• A highly motivated self-starter
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Basic math skills
• Ability to multi-task
• Strong decision-making skills
• Ability to take part in continuous training and education

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC machines and perform all tasks in a safe and responsible manner.
• Set up machines across multiple machines, areas within the shop, and/or disciplines.
• Perform necessary cpk studies, first article inspections, and/or PPAP processes.
• Assist with CNC machine operator training as assigned.
• Troubleshoot machine errors and part variances, and suggest improvements.
• Read and follow instructions on manufacturing orders and blueprints.
• Perform quality inspections using precision measurement devices.
• Accurately use all measurement tools and hand tools.
• Load programs into CMM machines.
• Provide machine shop support (deburring, tumbling, packing, assembly, punching, bending, etc.).
• Perform basic machine maintenance (clean chips, monitor coolant levels).
• Follow company initiatives in 5S, Continuous Improvement, and Safety.
• Communicate effectively with supervisor, team members, and other shifts.
• Understand and ensure department goals are being met.
• Operate manual machining equipment as needed.
• Cross train within the machine shop to learn and develop skills on a variety of machines and equipment.
