About The Position

George Evans Corporation is seeking an experienced CNC Operator to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC mills and lathes to produce quality parts according to blueprints and specifications.

Requirements

Previous CNC machining experience preferred.
Experience programming, setting up, and operating CNC mills and lathes.
Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical drawings.
Knowledge of GD&T.
Ability to accurately use calipers, micrometers, and other measuring equipment.
Ability to perform basic shop math, geometry, and trigonometry.
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality work.
Dependable and able to work effectively in a team environment.
Ability to stand for an entire shift of up to 10 hours.
Ability to regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds.
Ability to move heavier materials with assistance from hoists, slings, forklifts, or other mechanical or human assistance.
Ability to bend, twist, stretch, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive movements.
Ability to safely operate machine controls and handle tools and small components.
Ability to maintain balance, coordination, and awareness in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to see details, judge distances, distinguish colors, hear safety alerts, and respond quickly.

Responsibilities

Program, set up, and operate CNC mills and lathes.
Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, and material specifications.
Interpret Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Enter machine instructions, including zero and reference points, tool registers, offsets, and compensations.
Use basic math, geometry, and trigonometry to calculate machining requirements.
Install and adjust chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, stops, and other machine components.
Measure first-run parts and production pieces using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring tools.
Maintain required specifications and tight tolerances.
Monitor machine operations, identify malfunctions, troubleshoot problems, and adjust or reprogram controls as needed.
Replace worn tools and follow established quality procedures.
Complete required production and quality documentation.
Perform preventive maintenance and keep equipment in safe operating condition.
Communicate production status, irregularities, and continuing needs between shifts.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Work cooperatively with other employees and contribute to team goals.
Follow all safety and quality rules and procedures.
Wear required personal protective equipment.
Keep equipment in good condition with all safety guards in place.
Report all injuries, unsafe conditions, and unsafe work practices immediately.
Encourage coworkers to work safely.
