About The Position

Operates CNC equipment which performs the machining operations such as turning, boring, facing, etc on powder metal product.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education Degree (GED)
  • Knowledgeable in CNC machining
  • Knowledgeable in TS-16949 Quality Systems Requirements
  • Knowledgeable in ISO-14001 Environmental Management Systems
  • Knowledgeable in Control Plans
  • Knowledgeable in Lock-out Tag-out
  • Knowledgeable in Problem Solving
  • Know what it takes to have a safe workplace

Responsibilities

  • Review control plan and process instructions for the current part being machined.
  • Verify all of the gauges is accurate and in good working order using the appropriate masters and/or standards.
  • Get the machine ready for operation.
  • Start operation of the require machines.
  • Perform quality checks per control plan and accurately records in Plex or equivalent.
  • Make offset adjustments as needed.
  • Monitor the machine for normal operation. Report any issues to CNC Setup or Team Leader/Supervisor.
  • Change cutting tools at required intervals per control plan or as needed. Record tool life and do quality checks for affected features per control plan.
  • Loads parts into the automation. This includes filling bowels, conveyors, or skids into robots for loading.
  • If the automation is not applicable or not working, load parts into the lathe by hand.
  • For any product out of control plan specification, the technician identifies, contains and generates Discrepant Material Report (DMR) and forwards to the Material Review Board (MRB). The Technician must go back through the parts until a clean point is found. Report defective material to Team Leader or Supervisor.
  • Record production on an hourly basis for OEE tracking.
  • Packs parts into (or onto) appropriate boxes, dunnage or skid.
  • Labels all completed boxes, dunnage, or skid with the appropriate label.
  • Perform Final Audit checks per control plan.
  • Move completed skid out of cell.
  • Accurately reports production and scrap into Plex or current method of data collection.
  • Clean machine, tooling, and parts. ie; remove chips, fill oil and/or coolant, wipe down the outside of the machine, etc.
  • Follow safe operating procedures. Report any safety issues or hazards.
  • Communicates with co-workers from the previous and following shifts to discuss problems and concerns.
  • Insures operation runs at required production rate. Notifies Team Leader or Supervisor when this does not occur.
  • Assist other employees as directed by the Team Leader and/or Supervisor.
