About The Position

Walker Products is seeking a CNC Operator/Programmer in Fruita, Colorado. This role develops, edits, proves out, and optimizes CNC programs and machining processes for new and existing precision-machined components. It includes complete machine setup, interpretation of engineering drawings and GD&T, program verification, inspection, troubleshooting, process documentation, and support for transitioning setups into production. The position may involve CNC equipment such as Swiss-style lathes, turning centers, mills, multi-axis equipment, or screw-machine replacement applications, depending on Walker’s equipment mix. Equipment and capabilities mentioned include Tsugami B0-205s/B0-206s, S-206s, Citizen Swiss capability, live tooling, and sub-spindles. Programming software listed includes Espirit, BobCAD, and Mastercam, along with programming at the control when required and working knowledge of G-code and M-code. The work involves materials such as stainless steel, carbon and alloy steels, aluminum, and brass, as well as small components and tight-tolerance production machining. The posting references holding dimensional requirements of ±0.0005 inch or tighter where required, surface-finish requirements, and GD&T interpretation and application. The role also supports process improvement, new-product introduction, first-article activities, operator training, and collaboration across Engineering, Quality, Production, and Maintenance.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to independently develop CNC programs and machining processes from engineering drawings.

  • Working knowledge of G-code and M-code.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and edit existing programs without completely reprogramming a job.
  • Ability to interpret and apply GD&T.
  • Working knowledge of surface-finish requirements.
  • Ability to perform tight-tolerance production machining, including dimensional requirements of ±0.0005 inch or tighter where required.

Nice To Haves
