About The Position

Sturtevant Richmont, a division of Snap-on Incorporated, is seeking a CNC Operator/Programmer to set up and operate computer numeric controlled machines, including Puma lathes and VF CNC mills. The pay rate is $35.71 per hour. The role involves working from blueprints, process plans, and tool layout diagrams; preparing job setups; loading work and control programs; and making trial runs of machine parts. The operator/programmer modifies and inputs program instructions to maintain job specifications, performs scheduled machine maintenance, and inspects parts using provided gauges or measuring equipment. The position may also assist with training less experienced operators and include other duties assigned by a supervisor.

Requirements

Two or more years of CNC programming experience.
Knowledge of G-code programming language and various codes, and ability to write programs from part drawings using an off-line computer.
Ability to read engineering drawings.
Ability to interpret tolerances and understand GD&T.
Strong understanding of applied algebra, geometry, and trigonometry to calculate toolpaths, feeds, and speeds.
Understanding of metal behavior, heat tolerances, cutting tool selection, and fixture design.
Ability to work overtime as required.

Technical diploma preferred.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate one or more CNC machines, as well as auxiliary secondary machines.
Work from blueprints, process plans, and tool layout diagrams.
Plan job setups, review processes, and check tool inventory to perform jobs.
Load work and control programs, and make trial runs of machine parts.
Overwrite program settings and modify or input program instructions to ensure job specifications are maintained.
Perform scheduled maintenance operations on machines.
Inspect parts using gauges and/or measuring equipment provided.
Assist in training less experienced operators.
Perform other duties as directed by the supervisor.
