About The Position

The CNC Operating Machinist prepares and operates CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, grinding, and milling. The role involves reading blueprints and mechanical drawings, translating instructions into machine commands, loading raw materials, setting up and testing machines, supervising machine operation, and adjusting processes to meet specifications. The machinist inspects and measures finished products and performs daily machinery checks and maintenance to ensure functionality.

This position works an overnight shift from 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM the next day on a two-week rotational basis.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a CNC operator.
• Skill in operating CNC machinery and tooling, as well as precision measurement tools.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings.
• Computer proficiency, including a basic understanding of computer programming and CAD/CAM.
• Mechanical aptitude and good math skills.
• A keen eye for detail and a results-driven approach.
• Good communication abilities.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Successfully completed apprenticeship.

• Certificate or diploma in engineering or a relevant discipline.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and operate CNC machines for tasks such as drilling, grinding, and milling.
• Read blueprints and mechanical drawings to understand task specifications and desired results.
• Translate instructions into computer commands for machine operation.
• Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto machines.
• Run tests to verify machine outputs meet specifications.
• Set machines to complete full cycles for fabricating large numbers of parts.
• Supervise machines during operation and make adjustments as needed to improve results.
• Inspect and measure finished products against requirements.
• Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality.
