About The Position

STS Aerospace is seeking a skilled CNC Milling Setup Technician to join its expanding machine shop team. The technician will collaborate with programmers and engineers to set up production runs and assist with program development. The machine shop is growing through automation and investment in advanced technology, offering the opportunity to contribute to the development of manufacturing capabilities.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in similar roles.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members.
• Ability to operate machine equipment according to job instructions.
• Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form.

Nice To Haves

• Experience operating Haas milling centers and/or lathes.
• Experience using CNC probing systems.
• Knowledge of 5-axis CNC machines.

Responsibilities

• Understand blueprints, job plans, and operation instructions to ensure parts are manufactured to specifications.
• Understand G-Code.
• Inspect workpieces using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, optical comparators, and gauges.
• Set up machines using verbal and written instructions from programmers or engineers to produce a part for First Article Inspection (FAI).
• After a part passes FAI, turn production over to an operator and instruct them on producing the part.
• Troubleshoot problems during standard production machining.
• Train machine operators to run production jobs after a part passes FAI.
• Perform deburring as needed.
