About The Position

STS Aerospace is seeking a CNC Milling Setup Technician to join its growing machine shop team. The technician will work closely with programmers and engineers to set up production runs and assist with program development. The machine shop is expanding through investments in automation and technology.

Requirements

• Three to five years of experience in similar roles.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members.
• Ability to operate machine equipment according to job instructions.
• Ability to use common-sense understanding to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form.

Nice To Haves

• Experience operating Haas Milling Centers and/or lathes.
• Experience using CNC probing systems.
• Knowledge of 5-axis CNC machines.

Responsibilities

• Read and understand blueprints, job plans, and operation instructions to ensure parts are manufactured to specifications.
• Understand G-Code.
• Inspect workpieces using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, optical comparators, and gauges.
• Set up machines using verbal or written instructions from a programmer or engineer to produce a part for First Article Inspection (FAI).
• After a part passes FAI, hand production over to an operator and instruct them on producing the part.
• Troubleshoot problems during standard production machining.
• Train machine operators to run production jobs after a part passes FAI.
• Perform deburring as needed.
