About The Position

The CNC Machinist works in Northstar’s Manufacturing Department and reports to the Production Supervisor. The role provides technical assistance and oversight to CNC machinists, operates manual equipment, performs precision machining on aerospace hardware, and supports CNC setup activities. The position works with employees across the organization but does not direct other employees’ work. It is a full-time, non-exempt position.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent experience.
• Five years of experience with CNC aerospace machining.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong work ethic.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to interface with MRP systems.
• Good understanding of Microsoft Office products.
• Demonstrated understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts and 6-Sigma defect analysis.
• Ability to work with all levels of workers in a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist teammates with technical issues.
• Perform precision machining operations on aerospace hardware.
• Provide technical oversight and assist with setup activities on CNC equipment.
• Help schedule resources in areas to ensure daily work is achieved.
• Maintain efficient work processes using Lean principles to support cost-reduction activities.
• Operate various CNC machines and equipment.
• Operate manual equipment.
