CNC Machinist
About The Position
The CNC Machinist operates and sets up 5-axis machines in a cellular configuration, ensuring they are accurately configured and run according to customer specifications. The role involves reading blueprints, completing basic shop math, monitoring programs, and making necessary modifications while communicating those changes to programmers, who perform the main programming. The machinist may occasionally work with CNC horizontal and vertical boring mills. This is a permanent, full-time, direct-hire position at the company’s Northtowns location in Western New York. It is 100% in-office and works first shift, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The position reports directly to the Machine Shop Manager. Compensation is $30.00–$40.00 per hour, depending on experience. Relocation and visa sponsorship are not available; candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of 5-axis machining experience.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Self-motivated.
- Authorization to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.
Nice To Haves
- Trade school experience.
- Experience with Heidenhain controls and/or Mastercam programming.
Responsibilities
- Set up, load, and operate various 5-axis machines in a cellular configuration.
- Read and interpret blueprints and perform basic shop math to ensure machines are operating and configured accurately to customer specifications.
- Monitor programs and make necessary modifications.
- Communicate program modifications to programmers, who perform the main programming.
- Occasionally work with CNC horizontal and vertical boring mills.
- Maintain a safe environment by following and championing established safety procedures and policies.
- Participate in safety meetings and offer suggestions for improving workplace safety and processes.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives through active participation in Lean and Six Sigma teams.
- Work effectively both as part of a team and independently.
- Perform other duties as assigned or necessary.
