About The Position

We are seeking a high-caliber CNC Machinist to join our precision machining team in Oak Ridge. We are a specialized manufacturer producing critical, close-tolerance components for the aerospace and defense industries. This is a role for a true machinist who enjoys the challenge of complex geometries and one-off parts. We need someone who is not just a machine operator, but a technical problem-solver who can take a project from setup through final inspection.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of professional machining experience with a heavy emphasis on CNC setups and troubleshooting.
  • Proven ability to perform your own setups, offsets, and G-code modifications.
  • Deep experience in close-tolerance machining and fabrication of custom-designed equipment.
  • Strong ability to read complex prints and understand GD&T requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of precision machining tools, metal fabrication, and mechanical equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with 5-axis machining is a significant advantage.
  • Proficiency in manual machining (mills/lathes) is highly valued.
  • Previous experience in an Aerospace or Defense manufacturing environment (AS9100D/Nadcap).
  • Experience with MasterCam software is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complete setups, touch-offs, and tool offsets on CNC machines for high-complexity, short-run aerospace parts.
  • Read, interpret, and modify G-code at the controller to troubleshoot machining processes and ensure the highest accuracy.
  • Machine parts to extremely close tolerances, often working with exotic materials and complex geometries required for flight-critical applications.
  • Operate manual equipment (mills, lathes, saws) as needed to support production and secondary operations.
  • Read and interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications, including a strong mastery of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Collaborate with engineering to verify CNC programs (MasterCam) and optimize machining strategies for better efficiency and quality.
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools to ensure 100% compliance with AS9100D and ISO 9001 standards.

Benefits

  • Paid healthcare
  • Paid holidays
  • Paid vacation
  • Matching 401k
  • Education reimbursement
