About The Position

Westaff is hiring for multiple CNC Machinist and CNC Operator openings. This role involves preparing and operating machines to perform tasks such as drilling, grinding, and milling. The machinist will interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings, translate instructions into computer commands for machine operation, and prepare/load raw materials. They will set up and run first pieces to ensure outputs meet specifications, supervise machine execution, make necessary adjustments, and inspect finished products against requirements.

Requirements

Manufacturing Engineering degree or equivalent degree/experience
A minimum of 5 years of hands-on manufacturing engineering experience
Experience with PLCs, servo, and other motion controls, pneumatics, sensors, etc.
Solid modeling/CAD/CAM experience a plus (SolidWorks, PartMaker, S Abile, etc.)
Knowledge of machine shop equipment and practice, (actual machining experience a plus)
Hands-on experience with assembly, debug, and troubleshooting
SPC experience and proficiency

Responsibilities

Prepare and operate machines to perform tasks such as drilling, grinding, milling etc.
Understand specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading blueprints, mechanical drawings etc.
Translate instructions into computer commands so the machines can perform the correct function.
Prepare and load raw materials onto the machines.
Set up and run first pieces to verify that the machines produce outputs according to specifications.
Supervise the machines while they execute the tasks and make any necessary adjustments to produce a better result.
Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly.
