About The Position
McWilliams Forge, a growing company that supports the aerospace industry, is seeking a machinist familiar with turning machines. The role involves setting up and operating a variety of machines, including milling, turning, drilling, and grinding, to work to close tolerances from drawings with little or no guidance. The shift hours are Monday-Friday, 2pm-10:15pm.
Requirements
- Previous manufacturing experience (3+ years)
- Willingness to learn
- Experience with tight tolerances and high-precision parts
- Knowledge of tooling, feeds, speeds, and materials
Nice To Haves
- CNC programming experience (G-code, Mastercam, Fusion 360, etc.)
- Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC machines (mills, lathes, or multi-axis machines)
- Load programs, install tooling, and set work offsets
- Read and interpret blueprints and work instructions
- Monitor machine operations and make necessary adjustments
- Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
- Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshooting
- Maintain accurate production and inspection records
- Follow all safety, quality, and company procedures
- Collaborate with engineers, programmers, and supervisors to improve processes
