About The Position

We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist with a passion for building spacecraft and rocket components. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience operating Giddings & Lewis (G&L) Vertical Turning Lathes (VTLs) and a proven ability to machine large, heavy, and complex components. This role requires precision in turning, boring, and facing operations, maintaining tight tolerances, and a strong understanding of CNC controls and machine setup. The position involves physically demanding work and requires a positive attitude, reliability, and teamwork. Excellent communication and computer skills are essential, along with the flexibility to support various shifts and overtime.

Requirements

4 or more years of experience as a CNC Machinist
Experience operating Giddings & Lewis (G&L) Vertical Turning Lathes (VTLs)
Demonstrated ability to perform precision turning, boring, and facing operations while maintaining tight tolerances
Familiarity with CNC controls, machine setup, and leveraging vertical spindle configurations
Ability to perform physically demanding work, including standing, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs
Proficient in math and computer skills as they apply to CNC machining operations
Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

Operate Giddings & Lewis (G&L) Vertical Turning Lathes (VTLs)
Machine large, heavy, and complex components such as engine blocks, turbine rotors, and large gears
Perform precision turning, boring, and facing operations
Maintain tight tolerances
Perform machine setup
Leverage vertical spindle configurations for safe, stable, and efficient workpiece handling
Support 1st and 2nd shift assignments, overtime, and weekend work as needed
