About The Position

A long-established heavy machinery manufacturer serving the commercial marine, defense and mining industries is adding a CNC Machinist to its Kansas City-area shop. The company fabricates, machines, paints and assembles large-scale equipment used on ocean-going vessels and in U.S. Navy programs, and carries a large backlog of marine and defense work. This is real machining, not fixture work. You will run large horizontal mills and set large workpieces per work instructions using 3-point setups, with parts held in a relaxed state. It takes a machinist who knows what they are doing, and the pay reflects that skill.

  • Experience operating large horizontal mills, including setting up large workpieces from provided work instructions
  • Familiarity with 3-point setups and setting up parts in a relaxed state (this is not fixture work)

  • Ability to read and understand drawings

  • Solid understanding of workpiece setup fundamentals

  • Applicants must qualify as a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or other protected individual under 22 C.F.R. 120.15) or be able to obtain export authorization before starting.
