About The Position

Ducommun is seeking a CNC Machinist for its Parsons, Kansas facility, which manufactures precision parts for passenger and military aircraft. The machinist sets up and operates conventional, special-purpose, and computer numerical control (CNC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts. Depending on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience, the position may be hired at entry (I), intermediate (II), or expert (III) level. The role involves interpreting technical documents and sample parts to determine dimensions, tolerances, operation sequences, and setup requirements. The machinist selects and secures fixtures, tools, and materials; configures machine controls; monitors operations; verifies finished work against specifications; and works with colleagues to resolve machining problems. The position also includes collecting statistical process control (SPC) data, maintaining quality within control limits, and properly handling hazardous waste generated in the work area.
