About The Position

Fogg Filler is seeking a talented, team-oriented CNC Machinist to set up and operate CNC mills and lathes to produce precision Fogg parts in a timely manner. This role involves reading and understanding blueprints for part specifications, including dimensions, tolerances, and surface finishes, and applying programmer instructions such as setup sheets, stock notes, and tooling requirements. The CNC Machinist will apply knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures based on the programmers' directions. Responsibilities include setting up tooling, work pieces, and fixtures; machining parts to specifications; using measuring equipment like calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and profilometers; recording set-up and run time through the ERP system; monitoring due dates and completing work as scheduled; delivering parts to other departments; communicating effectively with team members; cross-training on various positions or equipment; inspecting work; and maintaining safety and cleanliness of the work area.

Requirements

  • Reads blueprints and work orders for product specifications, such as dimensions and tolerances.
  • Reads tooling instructions, such as fixtures, feed rates, and determines sequence of operations.
  • Includes modifying, or repairing parts or assemblies, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.
  • Reads and understands blueprints for part specifications, such as dimensions, tolerances, and surface finishes.
  • Applies programmer instructions, such as setup sheets, stock notes and tooling requirements.
  • Is able to apply knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures based on the programmers' directions.
  • In depth knowledge of measuring equipment common to the machinist‘s trade (calipers, micrometers, height gage, profilometers, etc.)
  • Punctuality and attendance are imperative.
  • Proficient at critical thinking and problem solving.
  • Self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic.
  • Work overtime as required.

Nice To Haves

  • High School diploma preferred.
  • Manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Machining experience preferred.
  • Experience with SolidWorks and Mastercam preferred.
  • Positive, team-oriented attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Setup, and operate 3 and 4 axis CNC mills and lathes (Haas mills, Doosan lathes).
  • Machine parts to specifications on detail prints provided, or as instructed.
  • Set up tooling, work pieces, and fixtures as directed.
  • Record set-up and run time through ERP system for tracking of time on all jobs.
  • Monitor due dates and complete all work as scheduled.
  • Deliver parts to other departments in the plant as necessary.
  • Capable of delivering clear and concise verbal and written information to team members as necessary.
  • Willing to work and cross train on various positions or equipment as required.
  • Capable of properly inspecting your own work as well as others as needed.
  • Maintain safety and cleanliness of work area by performing housekeeping duties daily. Including, but not limited to trash, coolant, work area etc.
